2006-2007 Winter Season of Anime

The autumn season is dying, and the days of winter are fast approaching. Hence, a new season of anime awaits their beginning. After a brief visit to the homepages of each anime, and a read through the sometimes crude and awkward synopses at animenfo, I have written down my selections. These are the animes that interested me after my seasonal routine preliminary scan:

Catblue: Dynamite – An anime natively spoken in English. Luckily for those of us fluent in English, subtitles will not be needed. From the trailer, it looks like a stylish, cheesy, femme fatale kind of show.

Rozen Maiden Ouverture – No matter how tainted by those odious black feathers, as long as there is even a speck of true crimson, I will watch it.

Les Miserables – Shoujo Cossette – An anime rendition of the classic story of Les Miserables? Although I only vaguely remember the original story. It’s been years since I have read it.

Rocket Girl – Rocket Girl bears some similarity to Twin Spica, in that a teenage girl is going to be an astronaut. Twin Spica is one of my favorite shows of all time, not just in anime. It has been a dream of mine to become an astronaut since I have laid eyes for the very first time as a kid on a large optical picture of M31 (Andromeda Galaxy). That also marked the beginning of my passion in astronomy. But as I grew up that dream dimmed away into fantasy when I slowly realized I most likely will not make it to be an astronaut, so I aimed the next best thing: if I cannot be amongst the stars, then I will reach for them using the largest telescopes on Earth. So here I am.

Moonlight Mile – I am drawn towards astronaut themed shows. Read above for reason.

Of course, the list does not unequivocally represent all the anime I will watch during next season. I may on a whim follow other animes of the current, and/or of the past. And I may drop shows as well. But when the first episodes of next season series have aired, the list above are the titles I will sample first.
