Comparing with the first season, this second season of Genshiken had a heavier focus on relationships, and was more risqué. Unfortunately, the development of characters is not the value I find in Genshiken. But it would be wrong to say I “endured” the characters of Genshiken, at least not all the time. For example, in the sketch where Angela and Madarame was alone in the club room, I particularly enjoyed watching Angela dominating the blushing and panicking Madarame, who obviously could not handle a strong and straightforward woman like Angela. That scene was a highlight of character interactions in the series, and one of the very few that entertained me. Ultimately, this second season of Genshiken was more about the life progression of these anime fanatics, and less about the details of the hobby they enjoy. Hence, I rank the second season below the first.
