An amusing moment in the first episode: Akira flashes a businessman, and said businessman happily takes his pants off and gives it to Akira. Another one: Akira drops his drawers so a female cop can inspect his Johnny to confirm identification. Funny, in an absurd sort of way.
My taste in music is as stringent as they come, and I am not easily impressed, so only once in a blue moon do I take a liking to an anime’s opening or ending sequence. Finally, Eden of the East is the first anime of this year to accomplish this onerous feat. The opening sequence had a catchy yet soulful alternative rock music by Oasis, and the visuals were constantly moving and changing, with so many things happening in each frame. It was imbued with creativity and artistry. The opening sequence was a very engaging experience through both the audio and visual senses, one that I would actually be willing to watch it over and over again. Applause to everyone who were involved in the making of Eden of the East’s opening sequence.
The interaction between Saki and Akira is very natural, and they have a strong chemistry with each other. Of the three first episodes I have seen of series from this spring season, Eden of the East has been the most entertaining.
