Kamisama no Memochou after episode 02 – First Impressions

Chobits deja vu. Alice in her ivory tower of computers and monitors.
Band of misfits. Remember, it's down the street not across the road.

In front of Alice’s door bears a plaque that says “NEET Investigation Firm”, and it sounds contradictory to my ears. I wonder if Alice really meets the definition of NEET, which stands for Not in Education, Employment, or Training. She satisfies two of the three, apparently not going to school nor training, but she is a self proclaimed detective. Granted, it’s not regular work like flipping burgers at McDonalds, but it is work of some sort. Perhaps the key question is, does she get paid? Or it is simple some kind of pastime to her and her gang. The equipment in her room has to be bought or obtained somehow…
Alice bears a striking similarity to Victorique in Gosick. Both have a small doll-like stature, and an exceptional mind for sleuthing. They both tend to stay in their ivory tower of information. While Victorique is surrounded by books, Alice has computers, monitors, and the internet at her disposal. They both also have a condescending demeanor bordering on arrogance. I wonder if Alice and Harumi will fall in love with each other in cliché fashion, like in Gosick.
