Last Exile – Fam, The Silver Wing after episode 01 – First Impressions

Last Exile airship designs are pretty cool. Catching a ship out of the clouds.
Pirate hideout. Uh oh. I don't think those ships are here to talk peace.

The first episode of Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing was quite action packed, but I have mixed feelings about it. Just for the record, I really like the setting and world of Last Exile. Massive naval-like battles, a world in the skies, steampunk designs of engines and aircrafts; they all make a return in this sequel, and certainly gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. The writing and direction, however, didn’t. Already the writing felt predictable and cliche in the first episode, and the music was blaring and heavy-handed. I hope that the intrigue hinted in the first episode avoids banality, and grows to something more meaningful and/or intellectual.
