Shingeki no Kyojin after episode 01 – First Impressions

Here’s another anime set thousands of years in the future, and like Shin Sekai Yori, for some reason mankind is once again living in more primitive times, and instead of humans with telekinesis and humanoid rats, there are giants who likes to eat humans. The first episode pushed lot of right buttons for me: it’s gruesome, sombre, and well animated. Although I must say the show came on a little too over the top with its intensity and drama, and that last scene of the episode where the kid witnessed the fate of his mother was a little predictable. The boy seeing that will surely instill a deep rooted hatred and a drive for revenge on the titans. It’ll probably be the reason that separates the boy from being just another fighter to being an exceptional one.
Plenty of potential for an epic story of action and adventure here. I await with bated breath for its next episode.

  1. Loved the way the anime was true to the manga yet still had it’s own artistic twist, the sceneries were drawn beautifully and I couldn’t get enough of how the movements of the characters were just really smooth and natural.
