Yuuji meets a challenger, well, not really, as it is definite that Yuuji and Kazuki will end up with each other, but in this episode someone appeared that intimidated Yuuji’s status as friend transitioning into boyfriend of Kazuki. [spoiler warning] Such person is Kogoro sensei (correct my romanization if it’s inaccurate, as I may have misheard his name), who has just returned to teach in the junior high section of the school. Kogoro sensei’s threat is that he also shares a history with Kazuki, when a few years ago middle schooler Kazuki, Chihaya, and Kogoro sensei were very close and used to have fun together. It is because of this history that Kazuki and Kogoro sensei can talk in ease, stirring up feelings of jealousy from an observing Yuuji. His sentiment is strong and evident when he does not show up for dinner to avoid dining on the same table with Kogoro. To complicate things a bit, Kazuki inadvertently earns some fans from the school newspaper, with the front page picture of Kazuki in bathing suit photographed by Yuuji no less, following last episode’s swimming event. The presence of Kogoro sensei gave us an exhibition of the inner feelings of our protagonists. Redundant for Kazuki, because from very first episode we already know who her heart is set for, but not for Yuuji, whose cop a feels on Kazuki may suggest that he is only taking advantage of their friendship. [/spoiler warning] His jealousy in this episode confirms unequivocally that he does, indeed, like Kazuki as more than just a friend.
